Hong Kong - Series One

Hong Kong: IV - VI - VII - IX

My first series of collages consisting of ten pieces created from May to August focuses on Hong Kong, the last major territory of the UK from 1980 till 1997.
Hong Kong started as a small fishing and market town and from 1841 till 1997 the British administration built this small island into the main business centre in the East.
The contrast from its beginnings to '97 are remarkable, and from '97 to present the face keeps being peeled away.
Using found images, newspapers, plotter maps, stamps and other various pieces, I wanted to create a series which shows the contrast between the not so distant shadows of Hong Kong's past juxtaposed with that of its present.
